Welcome to my Do It Yourself page!
Here you can find tips on how to make your next adventure lighter, cheaper, and more enjoyable. I personally enjoy designing and building my own backcountry gear. Much of what I use on the trail is homemade and therefore I have a greater since of accomplishment when I'm lying under my tarp tent safely weathering a raging hale storm without failing materials or leaking seams due to faulty craftsmanship (b/c I'm the craftsman). Making your own equipment allows you to customize your kit in order to fit your specific specifications and budget. While you may not have access to the latest polymer material or space-age light weight composits, an entire world of materials, designs, and uses are open to your imagination. Making your own equipment reduces repair costs, increases familiarity of the product, and optimizes efficiency through the built in self-adapting capabilities of your gear.
You can find everything from making your own ground sheets to stoves to making your own light weight shelter here! Part of the total experience for many is relying on equipment that is designed and built by oneself. I am no exception. You can find much more information on my links page for creating your own gear as well as many useful tips.
